DIFFER ENTERTAINMENT IS A FAMILY-FOCUSED EDUCATIONAL NONPROFIT THAT DISTRIBUTES MEDIA AND HOSTS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING THAT PROMOTES EMPATHY, EQUITY, AND COMMUNITY HEALING.

Our “positive propaganda” includes, but is not limited to, narrative film, social shorts, podcasts, and books that catalyze critical thought and demonstrate models of healing on individual and community levels.

Differ Entertainment, Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization exists to produce audio/visual media and host programming that promotes empathy, equity, and community healing through storytelling; especially the healing of communities (including but not limited to) the Black and Indigenous diasporas. The organization aims to engage the public by offering free and accessible workshops, screenings, and community events.

We do this for the betterment of ourselves and consequently the world.

MELANATED CULTURES INFLUENCE GLOBAL CULTURE.

THE WORLD DANCES TO OUR MUSIC, DRESSES IN OUR FASHION, AND USES OUR LANGUAGE TO LAUGH AT OUR JOKES. AT ONE TIME, THE FRUITS OF OUR CULTURE REFLECTED THE ROOTS OF OUR VALUES, BUT IN RECENT YEARS, THOSE FRUITS HAVE REFLECTED AN UNHEALED COMMUNITY THAT GRIEVES THE LOSS OF LEADERS LIKE ROSA PARKS, DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR., MRS. FANNIE LOU HAMER, JOHN H. CLARKE, FRED HAMPTON AND THEIR BRILLIANT & INSPIRING PEERS.

MUCH POPULAR MEDIA REFLECTS THE ABSENCE OF A UNIFIED VALUE SYSTEM, THE ABSENCE OF CULTURAL PRIDE BASED IN HISTORICALLY ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE OF SELF, AND ABSENCE OF LOVE IN ITS FULLEST SENSE. WE BELIEVE THESE ABSENCES ARE SYMPTOMATIC OF A SICKNESS OF CONSCIOUSNESS CAUSED IN LARGE PART BY THE CONSUMPTION OF EMPTY MEDIA.

FORTUNATELY, SOCIAL MEDIA HAS MADE THE ONCE SLUGGISH PHENOMENON OF CULTURAL APPROPRIATION NOW INSTANTANEOUS. SO EVEN IF THE SICKNESS SPREAD LIKE WILDFIRE, SO TOO CAN THE ANTIDOTE SPREAD.

IF THE WORLD IS TAKING NOTES AND IMITATING EMPTY... WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY IMITATE LOVE?

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE WORLD WATCHES US HEAL?

WHEN WE PRIORITIZE OUR OWN HEALING ON AN INDIVIDUAL LEVEL (SPIRIT, MIND, BODY); WE BENEFIT NOT ONLY DIRECTLY FROM OUR LIVED EXPERIENCE, BUT HEALING OURSELVES INCREASES OUR CAPACITY TO SHARE THAT EXPERIENCE WITH OUR LOVED ONES.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU REALLY SEE YOURSELF ON SCREEN?

WHAT CHARACTERS DO YOU SEE ON SCREEN?

WHAT CHARACTERS DO YOU SEE IN THE WORLD?

I WOULD ARGUE THAT THERE ARE ESSENTIALLY 4 TYPES.

ALTHOUGH WE'VE MADE STRIDES IN DIVERSE ON-SCREEN REPRESENTATION; THE HOLLYWOOD “POWERS THAT BE” HAVE ROUTINELY CAPITALIZED OFF OF TRAUMATIC IMAGES AND STEREOTYPICAL NARRATIVES THAT NEVER SEEM TO SHOW WHAT OUR HEALING CAN LOOK LIKE. THAT’S WHY DIFFER ENTERTAINMENT DEVELOPS AND PRODUCES STORIES OF VICTORY AND STRENGTH THAT CELEBRATE THE FULL RANGE OF OUR HUMANITY INSTEAD OF FIXATING ON TRAUMA.

WE OFTEN HAVE MORE OPTIONS THAN WE REALIZE.

The organization exists to produce audiovisual media that uplifts unrecognized voices, particularly from the Black and Indigenous diasporas. Differ develops and distributes socially conscious media and educational content that confronts culturally destructive narratives, empowers diverse artists, promotes empathy, and fosters societal healing. Activities include hosting film screenings, financial literacy workshops, facilitating live events, and cultivating community-based solutions in partnership with schools, youth organizations, and other nonprofits for a more equitable future.
